We're always looking for volunteers - can you help?
Shop assistants - help run our fundraising outlet on Sandown High Street
Committee Members - help plan and execute our events
Carnival day marshals and collectors - help our events run safely and collect donations!
Here's just some of the tasks our committee members undertake. Could you help with any of these?
Parades - road closure applications, arranging appropriate insurances, provision of first aid facilities, parking suspensions, signage, street trader licencing, health & safety risk assessment and mitigation, barriers, safety fencing
Queens Co-ordinators - event planning, liaison, arranging transport, dressmaking and alterations, float music, welfare
Media & Publicity - advertising campaigns, social media interaction, press releases, website management, photography/videography, liaison with media outlets, production of posters, carnival programme and other advertising materials
Shop / Fundraising - management of shop staff / health & safety / insurances / utilities, receipt and processing of donations for resale, regulatory compliance, co-ordinating fundraising events, selling advertising space
Carnival Float - design, materials sourcing, carpentry, metalworking, painting & decorating, electrical, in-season maintenance, vehicle maintenance, driving and towing
Administration - book-keeping, secretarial services, dealing with enquiries and complaints, letter writing, raising and chasing invoices, paying bills, arranging financial audits, liaison with other carnival associations.
Plus much, much more besides! The committee meets monthly but there's plenty to be done in-between meetings, especially during the main season.
